OPUNAKE BRANCH INTERESTING ADDRESS The v July meeting was held last week. Mrs. J: S. Tosland presided, the president being absent at the Dominion conference at* Wellington. It was agreed to sell the section in Tasinan Street. Several remits were read and discussed. Competitions resulted: Violets, Miss Pettigrew 1, Mrs. Petty 2, Mrs. 'Allan 3; bloom, Mrs. Tosland 1, Mrs. Petty 2, Miss Pettigrew and Mrs. Holmes equal 3. , Mrs. Ellison, Mana.ia, gave a talk on Parotonga where her husband was medical officer for several years. She described the life and customs of natives and Europeans, the geographical features of the island, also the fruits and flowers and trees. Many articles of native workmanship were displayed, including carved articles in shell, wood-carving, inlaid work, shell necklaces, and sewing. Mrs. Ellison was assisted by her daughter, and they \yero accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
