TENNIS CLUB
EXECUTIVE MEETING THE NEW COURTS Mr. E. H. Hughson presided at a meeting of the executive of the Opunake Tennis Club held on i. hursday evening. Apologies were received from Mesdames Malcolm and Jackson. Mr. T. Fouhy wrote to the Club advising that an officer of the Department of Internal Affairs had visited Opunake recently and had made an inspect tion of the Club's courts including the area for the two new courts. The officer had been favourably impressed with the club's past efforts and need for expansion and had advised that consideration of a grant would be made bv Parliament in the next session. ' >.';'■ It was decided to. approach Mr. A. J. Scott, contractor, Iriglewood, for an estimate of the cost of laying down the two new courts, and to obtain local, estimates for permanent fencing o* part or whole of the area. Mr. Hughson advised that the council intended to make a footpath fronting the courts to Mr. M. Luckm's residence and that the hedge on the new • section would need to be trimmed accordingly. The secretary was instructed to arrange for the work tc ; be done. i A small amount of general business was also attended to.
