Auckland Competitions The Committee's main effort last week was the running of a novelty competition which proved a popular change from the usual raffles. The winner has been located, in the person of Mr W. J. Lichwa&'k, Opunake. Mr. Lichwark entered several i solutions, one of which appeared to be so rough that he threw it out. On second thoughts he retrieved it and was fortunately able to produce it and receive his prize at the right moment.

Patriotic Depot The rooms in Tasman Street were offered to the public again on Friday evening and received a fair amount of patronage. The Ping-Pong table was in use most of the time and the resxi.lt from this and other competitions amounted to 9/6. Altogether the Patriotic Funds benefited by approximately £7/14/0 including the proceeds from the "Auckland" competition. Assisting the Organiser Many of the enthusiastic Patriotic workers, both Committee and non-committee, seen to have developed the habit oi dropping in at the Patriotic Depot for a smoke and a yarn. Last Fridav night theire was a particularly good muster and conversation centred mostly on the question of assisting the Patriotic Organiser. Proceedings were purely informal bat some excellent suggestions were put forward. Xmas Comforts for Opunakel Soldiers Golfers It was a happy thoiigiit which prompted the Onunake Golf Club to despatch Xmas parcels to all former members of the club who are now Btsring with the A vine J Forces. H embers of the Ladies Committee undertook the wo'vk of preparing' and packing the parcels which are now on their way to the Middle East where the majority of the Club's former players aire stationed.
