ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
SUPPLIES FROM AMERICA CONTROLLER'S INSTRUCTIONS Because exports of electrical equipment from the United Kingdom are now practically prohibited, eleetriepower boards have been advised by Vhe Electricity Controller, Mr. F. T. Kissel, that in future they must obtain their supplies of electrical equipment from America. There will be two possible alternatives in procuring materials from the Uni,ted Statesfl. The first is through normal importing channels available in New Zealand, and the other by ■authorities forwarding a list of their requirements up to December. 1942, to the controller, with full instructions and specifications. Equipment essential for the better prosecution of the war will be ordered through the Ministry of Supply and Vise Briish Purchasing Commission in Washington. Tenders will not be invited in the KX-iil manner, but every endeavour will be mr.de by the authorities in the

It is not com potent for electric supply aut'ioritf?> in New Zealand to nominate a firm whoso product is preferred unless there is some special reason why tnu + particular manufacturer must supply the articles required.
The landed cost of the equipiiimt from the United States will not be known until the Ministry of Supply is furnished with information from Washington. In 'the case of any equipment normally obtained from Canada, the order should bo placed with the Canadian firm or its aj-fjnt in the usual way.
