S KPTEAIBER MEETING
The September meeting of tin-. Opunake Branch of the Women’s Division Farmers’ Uni >n was held on Monday, September 8. Airs. W. Sheat presided over a good attendance of. members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. S. Hickey, Goppdrth, Harvey (sen) and Bevan.
A letter of thanks for a parcel of comforts was received from the secretary for the Womens' Auxiliary Territorial Service in England, this parcel containing gloves, scarves and mittens was much appreciated. The usual donation of £l/1/was voted t 0 the leper appeal and members also asked for donations of gifts °r money for this worthy object. The usual anneal fot ’the “egg drive” for orphanages of the Church of England was made and members promised their assistance. Mrs* Gilbert reported that she made 0 pillowcases and 9 tea towels ftora salt bags donated to the Branch. It was decided that these he handed to the local Hed Cross Society to be used for the Hospital Emergency Box. A donation of £l/1/- was voted to the Calf Club. Cakes in tins for sending to soldiers overseas were brought to the meeting and Mrs.... Sheat thanked the

Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Dobbin and Miss Faull.
