S KPTEAIBER MEETING

The September meeting of tin-. Opunake Branch of the Women’s Division Farmers’ Uni >n was held on Monday, September 8. Airs. W. Sheat presided over a good attendance of. members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. S. Hickey, Goppdrth, Harvey (sen) and Bevan.

A letter of thanks for a parcel of comforts was received from the secretary for the Womens' Auxiliary Territorial Service in England, this parcel containing gloves, scarves and mittens was much appreciated. The usual donation of £l/1/was voted t 0 the leper appeal and members also asked for donations of gifts °r money for this worthy object. The usual anneal fot ’the “egg drive” for orphanages of the Church of England was made and members promised their assistance. Mrs* Gilbert reported that she made 0 pillowcases and 9 tea towels ftora salt bags donated to the Branch. It was decided that these he handed to the local Hed Cross Society to be used for the Hospital Emergency Box. A donation of £l/1/- was voted to the Calf Club.
