EXAMINATION PASSES

Those successful in the -recent examination, conducted by Dr. T. N. Watt, for St. John's Ambulance certificates were :- Messrs E. K. Butler. V. Corkill, M. S. Cottam, P. W. J. Coxhead, R. Crutch, T. F. Day, E. Davis. H. V. Field, A. Gilhooly, H. Hartley, R. J. 31. Hunt. P. A. Irving, M. J. Kilpatrick, R. Me. Lewis, B. Marsh D. McCrone, D. McGowan, R. W. J. Ord, G. M. Sayed F. Schmidt, W. A. Sheaf, ,T.' S.' B. Smith, G. W. R. Siddells, C. N. Thayer, E> Watson, W. Wheeler, F. J. Young- and R. Young. f Superindentent Honoured Results were announced at the weekly class on Monday last, after which opportunity was taken to expfress appreciation to the leaders. Several members spoke of the genuine interest displayed by the superintendent, Mir. R. B. Croke, who had done much, not only in Opunake, but in outer areas, for the education of many of the ethics of first-aid. On behalf of those assembled Mr. R Siddells presented Mr. Croke

with a wristlet watch. Dr. Watt was thanked for the time he had given in delivering lectures and for the support he had at all times accorded the class. . , . In reply Mr. Croke said that he felt it' his dutv to share a rrood thing and if anyone was sufficiently interested to come to the classes and lectures he would willingly give them all the advice he could, to stimulate interest in St. John's work in this district. He stressed also the necessitv for an ambulance, and hoped that a local association would be formed and such an acquisition would soon be attacked to our town. Stretchers were urgently required for bt. Johns and E.P.S. work and any fluids that could be raised for these would be appreciated.
