Opunake succeeded in a challenge for the. Tait Stars, defeating Hawera in a croquet match. Scores were: Mrs. Jenkin and Mrs .Ritchie 26 v. Mrs. Reece and Mrs. Grey 5; Mrs. Feaver and Miss Feaver 15 v. Mrs. Syme, and Mrs. Mitchell 16. In a friendly game at Kaponga, the seniors were defeated, scores being: Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Watkins. 26 v. Mrs. Gunson and Mrs. Feaver 6; Mrs. Dawson and Mrs. Evans 18 v. Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Ritchie. 26. A return match ■in the local green also was won by Kaponga, the players being: Airs. Bavlis and Airs. Shields v. AT rs. Tvack and Mrs. Thurston , j Afrs. Dalrymple and Mrs. O’Sullivan v. Airs. Gibson and Airs. Gardner.
