Club competitions almost solely engage the attention of Opunuke bowlers at the present time, the 1939 series of championship contests being under way. R. A. Ritchie, last year's singles titleholder, has the brightest prospect of in at the death" again this year, retaining his two lives while one-lifers number five. On Friday, he defeated G. Feaver 21-6, thus eliminating the club president, and later had a prolonged duel with the twolifer D. Thomas, eventually winning 21-15. In the one-lifers, J. P. Burton was eliminated, W. J. S.
