New Euchre Series— Commencing tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, and continuing fortnightly thereafter, a series of euchre contests will be held in St. Patrick's Hall under the auspices of the Opunake branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. Good prizes will be offered for each contest, and in addition there will be handsome points awards. Each function will be followed by a dunce.

Okato Loses Championship—The Okato junior Rugby team, unbeaten in coastal play, and winoer of the semi-final with Kaponga, was defeated in the final of the; Taranaki championship oii Saturday by Toko. Although Okato. led G-5 at the interval, a try and a penalty goal producing the points, the central champions took charge in the second half but scored only one /try to win 8-6.

School BasketballLast week, Opunake scored two 'wins, in primary school basketball. Helene Davis and Joy Sinclair each throw two goals to make up Opunake's points tally against Convent, which failed to score.
