Doctors may differ regarding the hannlessness of tobacco, but the famous London physician, Sir Bruce Porter, entertains no doubt on the subject. "I know," he says, "tobacco is an extreme comfort to a great many, and I wisli more particularly to "reassure old folks so that they may not be terrified from enjoying one of the few pleasures remainingl to those of advanced years. Tobacco in moderation is not going to do them any harm." So far from that it may do them a great deal of good, provided it's pure as it ought to be. Unfortunately it very often isn't.
