ABREAST OF THE TIMES
NEW FORD V 8. LATEST EQUIPMENT We referred in our columns on Tuesday last to a new Ford model seen "in the street which aroused considerable interest. Being struck with the handsome appearance we have been advised that one will be on view at a local garage in the course of a few days. In its new Y 8 the Ford Motor Company presents to the public -"a car fairly bristling with attractive features embodied in changes and improvements small and large but important. The thoroughness exemplified
in the splendid cut-away working model chassis at the assembly plant finds easy translation in the complete car with its sleek lines and its extremely comfortable interior. The dominant note is one of up-to-the-minute transport efficiency comprehending all factors. beauty, safety, visibility, luxurious comfort, ease of control accesibility of controls, speed braking, silence and riding quality.
What is new or different ? Well there is a new radiator grille fashioned to harmonise •with the graceful contour of the body: the top of the bonnet lifts, hinged at the scuttle, and there one finds the battery in the ideal position for topping-up or inspection at a moment’s notice: below is the New Economy Carburetter and the new domed cast alloy pistons and new piston pins you cannot see and changes in the cooling system for greater engine efficiency: a new Y type windscreen: new hub caps: new steering ratio: new cable and conduct brakes: larger luggage compartment: enclosed spare wheel: recessed headlamps : new design bumpers; rubber insulated body at 32 points: solid drive shaft with centre bearing: all steel body with roof drip rail; instrument panel: starter button on the dash: handbrake mounted undwr the dash on tb p right; independently operated windscreen wipers: new twin inside lights: new adpistable front seat which rises as it is advanced: new pillow tvpe upholstery.
• Those are not all the cleails ■which can he. enumerated, hut they are sufficient to show that Ford craftsmen are keeping abreast of modern motoring though. There is one way to prove the various points which give Ford its high place in the transport field and that is by actual test personally. Yards of superlativefc on description will not measure up to actual experience: the feel of the wheel, the accretion of power, the effect of braking, steering, cornering, climbing, the broad view ahead, the silence and the comfort. There are four models —the Fordor, Coupe, do luxe Coupe, ancf de luxe touring Fordor.
