DESTROYED BY FIRE

AN 8-ROOMEO DWELLING Shortly after 5 o’clock last night a large 8-roomecl dwelling in AA'hiteombe Road, owned by Mrs H. AA f . (trover, was totally destroyed by tire. Air (trover was at Hawera to meet his wife when the outbreak occurred,' but according to Air Iteardon, who had been engaged in renovation work an explosion took place inside the building .and immediately everything was ablaze. The dwelling and contents were totally destroyed while Air Reardon is also a heavy loser, all his tools and materials having been burned. The origin of the fire is a mystery, everything being in order when he left the building.

An outhouse was saved with the assistance of a neighbour, Air J. Litchwaik who was quickly on the scene. Air and Airs Grover and their daughter knew nothing of the loss of their home until they arrived back and found the place in ruins. The house was insured but the amount is not yet known.
