RACING

TAKAPUNA MEETING ?lEST DAY ACCEPTANCES. Flags will be fiying at Takapuna to-rnoirow when the first dav of the club's summer meeting will be held. The fields are good and the racing should be quite up to city standard. Below we publish the acceptances, together with the names of several horses which have been showing good form during the past tew weeks. The programme will open with the — Trial Stakes—Six furlongs. Killadar 9.0, Brown Lap 8.7, Morehu 8.6,' Echo Song 8.0, foreign Monev 8.4, Solo Song 0.0, Diversion, 'Teddy's Boy 8.2, lahea ilea 8.1, Donna, Laudatory, Spree, Tamiti Boy, Model Girl, Horowhenua 8.0. Some good hacks are fielded here and Morehu is running nicely, having finished a close third at Pukekohe recently, and may do better. Diversion is speedy. Two good ones are —• Echc Seng and Mcrehu.

Oiewa Highweight— 9 fur. Thespis 11.8, Alpinus 10.7, United 10.3, Courthaven 10.2, Black Marlin 10.1, Ruby Meteor 9.:3, Sir Willonyx 9.0, Bright Flower 9.0. The Highweinht will be a good race if they all start, but despite the heavy poundage the top three can carry*H over the distance. Form points to — United and Ruby Meteor.

Ferry Handicap—7 fur. Limbohm cS.IO, Glenrata 8.8, Imamint 8.7, Gold Pocket 8.7, Koman Mascot. 8.0, Hawthorn 7.11, Golden Sceptre 7.G, Solomon 7.5, Barograph T.o. This event is very open and backers have little to choose from. Gold Pocket showed up well at Xnias time. Imarnint ran a fair fourth in open company. The distance should suit — Limbohm and Clenrata. Takapuna Cup—ll fur. 40yds. Master Brierlv 8.8, Speedmmt 8.3, Muster Norval 8.1, Baroscope 7.13, Muugatoon 7.G, Hoyal Artist 7.4, Alloy 7.4, Maori Boy 7.1, Whakapara 7.1, Eagei Pose, Gay Marigold, Free Air T -°- * •* .i With Kiltowyn out of it, the issue is more open and all have A lot of racing and so has Alloy. Master Norval seems to have lost form and the same can be said of Baroscope. Whakapara is the best of the light weights, but two smart ones are — Master Brierley and Mungatoon.

Calliope Handicap —5 fur. lloval Appellant 8.4, Sirona Crest. 7.11, Kelly < .3, l§Trimden 7.1, Horotiu, Seven Seas, Gay Athlone, Lady Burleigh 7.0. . *,v Nothing startling in this held, but place" positions in such a short race count a lot at Takapuna. With a fair draw at the barrier one could hardly go past Royal Appellant and Sirona

Wynyard Plate—7 fur. Boughal, Pelagia, King Musk, Star Artist.. Cherry King, Solomon, Kurapae, Arawa Pose. It is surprising to see such a small held in this event and the class is nothing to enthuse over. Cherry King may create a surprise, but would need to be in front of— Boughal and Star Artist.

Rangitcto Handicap —9 fur. Cherry King 8.11, Caliente B.IU, Gay Broney 8.10, Ornamental 8.2, Royal Gallant 8.0, Jewel, led Girdle 7.FJ, Wee Musk 7.1 U, Hawthorn 7.6, lluxy 7.0. This race will see several having their second outing for the day but this should not aft'ect the chances of some of the i>eriormeis. Two who may catch the judge's eye are — Caliente and Jewelled Girdle Zealandia Handicap—7 fur. Jonathan 9.0, British Columbia ,S 10, Karangapai 8.3, Prolyxo 8.1, Lady's JJuv T.l'3, Marechal 7.10, Sinking Fund 7.9, Lnnex 7.7, Exaggeration 7.7, Piuiri Turk 7.7, Flying Prince 7.6, Recent tu 1.2, Jaeldy Karo 7.0. The final flutter will be a cracker jack for pace and the field is a high class one. Recreatu is in nicely us also is Sinking Fund. Form will be followed and the favourites will probably be— Brit. Columbia and Karangapai. j _, i
