THINGS I HATE

PET AVERSIONS. When "The New Idea" asked its readers to tell of their pet aversions, the results were very interesting-. A close study of the large number of entries received showed that their are a dozen or so outstanding "hates," Each of the following were mentioned a great number of times: Carrawav Seeds. Spoilt Children. Unshaven Men. People who talk at the "Talkies."

Liars. Children alluding to their fath er as "The Old Man." The Effeminate Man, A Laddered Stocking-. The Dentist's Chair. Cruelty to Animals.

The first prize was awarded to the following list of "Things I Hate":

Dead matches in my hath. Mothers with the "children should he seen, but not heard" ideology. A boy wearing his first pair of "long- 'uns." Politicians. Lemon sago pudding. Flies.

My spectacles. Girls who smoke. Long dresses. Men who refer to girls as "tabbies." "Penny dreadful" love stories. Fruit knives and forks. Women who marrv for money. Men who marry for money. The film and book censors.

People who look upon working people as unworthy of any consideration.
