Bees cannot be sold without the written consent of the inspector. This fact was emphasised in the Magistrate’s Court, Hawera, by fines inflicted -for infringing the law. * * ¥ *

North Taranaki butter has a different flavour from that in the south of the province; that in Mauuwatu is distinctive, while a region from Taihape to Wellington is particularly suited to produce a fine natural flavour. This was the opinion expressed by Mr. W. Hull of the Hairy Division at Patea. » 4 * ■ In reference to the suggested restriction of butter imports into the United Kingdom the Prime Minister stated that the position had been further discussed with the Dairy Board, who again emphasised as strongly as possible, any restriction on New Zealand butter would have a disastrous effect on the dairying industry.

When the claims for exemption under the operations of the Sales •Ta x was discussed in Parliament the Labour member for Waimarino (Mr. F.
