RACING AT NEW PLYMOUTH

SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. Taranaki punters have the opportunity of witnessing an excellent day’s racing at New Plymouth to-morrow for judging by the splendid acceptances a most successful meeting seems assured. Following are the acceptors with a review of their prospects: Hack and Hunters’ Hurdles, of £SO, about miles: Tenacre 11.9, Moerangi 10.13, Calamine 9.9, Kissless 9.5, Hunting Boy 9.3, Tree Lucerne geld. 9.0. This is the opening race of the day and despite his burden Tenacre will be hard to head while Calamine should be handy. Opunake Scurry, of £SO, five furlongs: Queen Agnes, Flying East, Paa Mu, Peschiera, Glowlight, Merry Day, Devola, Royal Papa, Carfex, Rapai, Waipaparua, Taitoru, Emerald Abbey, Abbey Dream.

Anything is likelv to turn up trumps in this event but should Flying East and Merry Way strike the jump o\it they may he still there at the finish.

Stratford Handicap, of £GO; six furlongs: Orapai 9.0, Silvermine 8.10, Refresher 8.5, Gold Dawn 7.12, Little Doubt 7.9, Eastertime 7.5, Orby’s Choice 7.0.

There is not one of the above not having a possibility, although track work points to Sllvermine, Orby’s Choice and Orapai. The difference in weights should help Orby’s Choice to be right among them at the judge’s box.

Hunt Club Cup, of £BO, about miles: Luna Lux 11.7, Royal Reign 11.2, Trouble 10.13, Winnagan 10.12, Hunting Boy 10.5, Day Lass 10.5, Ngaraa 10.0, Razor 10.0, Michael Shimose 10.0, Nimhlefoot 10.0, Coma 10.0. Some of the best hunters in the North Island are entered for this race and it promises to be one of the best races for a number of

years. Trouble ran a good second at Ellerslie last week and will be hard, while Royal Reign above him and the light weight Michael Shimose may do well. Waihi Hack Handicap, of £6O, 7 furlongs: Kissless 9.0, Aga Khan 8.6, Illuminate 8.5, La Crown 8.4, Miss Shelf 8.4, Tangiroa 7.13, Captain Dan 7.11, Abbey Dream 7.10, Glow Light 7.10, Silver Fern 7.10, Glen'Yane 7.10. Aga Khan is supposed to win this even but Tangiroa and La Crown have been shaping well of late although the former may be saved for the next flutter.

Members’ Handicap, of £7O, 1 mile: Silvermine 9.0, Gibralter 8.5, Little Doubt 8.2, Gold Dawn 8.0, Eastertime 7.7, Orby’s Choice 7.3, Tangiroa 7.0. Cold Dawn should be promin-

ent at the weight although Little Doubt and Eastertime have been shaping well in their track work. Hunters’ Handicap Flat, of £SO" li miles: Gold Ruler 11.7, Arikitoa 10.13, Annoyer 10.10, Day Lass 10.6. Abbey 10.4, Royal Reign 10.4, Nguwaa 10.0, Razor 10.0, Michael Shimose 10.0, Nimblefoot 10.0, Ngareta 10.0, Tree Lucerne geld 10.0. The three top weights stand out in this company and Cold Ruler and Arikitoa should provide the finish despite their weights. Urenui Hack Handicap, of £6O six furlongs: Sparkling Morn 9.0, Tigerism 9.0, Illuminate 7.9, La Crown 7.9, Merry Way 7.8, Moatoa 7.5, Glow Light 7.0, Silver Fern 7.0, Royal Papa 7.0, Rapai 7.0, Taitoru 7.0, Emerald Abbey 7.0. This, the final race of the day, should be a good one with Sparkling Morn, Moatoa and Tigerism as the public’s choice.
