OLD PUPILS' DANCE
FAREWELL TO MISS FUGLE. LARGE CROWD PRESENT. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, the dance held by the committee of the Opunake High School Old Pupils' Association in St. Patrick's Hall on Tuesday night proved a great success. The function was a continuation of the invitational series held throughout the winter, and as with previous functions, was thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd present. Mr. J. Hooker supplied the music in his usual competent manner while extras were played by Misses W. Baylis and Mickelson. As usual, with dances held lately, old-time dances formed the greater part of the programme, and Mr. L. Ashworth, as M.C., had no difficulty in keeping the function going with a swing. The ladies supplied the dancers with a dainty supper. A Presentation. Miss Fugle, who is ' leaving Opunake to continue her duties at Hamilton East school, was the recipient of a beautiful bouquet kindly made by Mr. W. Fawcett, and presented by Miss K. Julian. Mr. Ashworth, on behalf of the Association, thanked Miss Fugle for the untiring help she had given them in the past and hoped her associations in her new district would be as pleasant as those made in Opunake. In replying, Miss Fugle sa,id that she was leaving the local school and district with real feelings of regret, and stated that should any present ever visit Hamilton she would do her best to make them feel at home.
