When Mrs. Ida Wood, a 93-years-old recluse, who once danced with King Edward as Prince of Wales, stooped down in New York recently to pick up something, her nurse was astonished to see 500,000 dollars (£100,000) in notes of high denominations, fall from the bodice of her dress. s * * * Federal Parliamentary nominations closed on Sunday throughout Australia for the 75 seats in the House of Representatives and tho twelve in the Senate, only one third of whose number (.36) retire. The nominations total 220 or the House and 54 for the Senate. * * * * Mr. Justice Meredith at Dublin gave judgment for Emilo Scala, who won the llrst prize in- the Irish sweepstake last March, in the case in which Matteo Constantino and Antonio Bpicella claimed a share of 'the prize. The suit commenced last April.
