Use of Radiators

PERMITTED IN AUCKLAND. The Auckland Electric Power Board al last meeting unanimously adopted a report by the Works Committee permitting the use of radiators under the following conditions :- No further radiators to be connected without a special permit from the board. Existing radiators will be supplied next winter. Radiators to be supplied on the following conditions : —The price of radiator supply to be per unit, less the usual discount ; radiators to be on a special circuit, and the current s measured on a separate meter, for which a meter rent of 2/6 per quarter will be charged ; all radiators must be switched off between 4J) m and 5.30 p m., Monday to Friday inclusive. These conditions applied to all shops, offices, warehouse, and business premises, conditions of domestic supply to remain as. at present. The report pointed out that the committee was convinced that .the radiator supply would not be profitable to the Board ; in fact, it would cause a substantial loss, to reduce which to a minimum the above conditions were calculated. It was also decided to invite representative engineers and architects to confer with the Board with reference to the heating of buildings.
