TENNIS.
The local courts were officially opened for play yesterday in the presence of a large gathering. Mr C O Edmonds, vice-president, in the absence of Mr F Julian, president, performed the ceremony and wished the club a successful season. Enjoyable afternoon tea was served by the ladies. Interesting play took place during the day, the winners of the tournament being Mr D Morrison and Miss M E Trotter. In the evening a most enjoyable dance took place in the Town Hall, the hall being well filled. Excellent music was provided by Miss D Sinclair and other musicians present. Messrs Groves and Morrison acted as MC‘s.
