At a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, it was decided to invite plans and specifications for a new St. Helens hospital at Christchurch, and for. a new railway station at Putaruru, Auckland. Tenders were accepted for a new post office at Levin, and a new police station at Dannevirke. A contract was accepted for piers of cylinder bridge at Mokikinui, West Coast. Railway construction votes, amounting to £49,000, were authorised also £2600 for railway material. The sum of £IO,OOO was voted in connection with the Huttrailway, and £SOOO lor duplication requirements. A sum of £ISOO was authorised for expenditure in the Oid Country in the purchase of Jersey cattle.
