TOWN BOARD AFFAIRS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,- -I noticed by your issue of Friday last that the Town Board decided to erect a bathing shed and that a sub-committee were empowered to accept tenders and select site for same. On the following day (Saturday) 1 made inquiries about the matter and found that a tender had been accepted and that only two builders were asked for a price arid one of them is a non-ratepayer. Now Sir, is it fair to go behind the backs of the other builders and some of them ratepayers for many years. I always was under the impression that public bodies were above making fish of one and fowl of another. Evidently it was not the case over the bathing shed as there were evident signs that that was a “ worked ” concern and I should like to ask members of the Board if thenwork is going to be done in the future like kissing— by favor. There were many incidentals ” in connection with the so-called tendering of the job that would be perhaps best left out of print. Hoping this bit of ink, Mr Editor, will serve the purpose of rousing the watch-dog—public criticism—on public bodies.—l am, &c,, Nail Driver.
