Federal Elections.
Sydney, March 6. Polling day for the Federal Elections was observed as a holiday. The elections passed off quietly throughout the colouies. The latest returns show the following are the leading candidates ;—Barton, Cavruthers, McMillan, Reid, Lyne, R. E O'Connor, J. Abbot, Walker and Wise. The last two have been replaced by Copeland and See. About 140 small returns are still to come in, but it is almost certain Cardinal Mpran has little chance of being included among the tea. Melbourne, March 6. The following ten will probably be elected :—The Premier, Dr Quick, Sir Graham Berry, Sir William Zeal, Messrs Peacock, Isaacs, Deakin, Trenwith, Fraser and Higgins. Melbourne, March 7. At the Federal Election 148,000 vote 3 were cost out of 264,000 on the roll. Mr Barton headed the poll with 104,403, the Premier next with 89861, while Mr Wise, the tenth man scored 56,760. Sydney, March 7. Sir George Turner headed the Federal poll with 83,600 vote 3. The tenth man polled 44,565. Hobart, March 6. The Federal returns are incomplete. The following are leading:—Sir Phillip Fysh, Sir E. Bialdm, Henry, Lewis, Dobson, Brown, Grant, Clarke, Moore and Collins.
