LANDING OF TANKS

CHIEF NAZI PROBLEM One of tho unknown and most important factors in Hitler’s invasion plans is how he proposes to land tanks in Britain, because highplaced officials are convinced that, failing a solution of this difficult problem, an invasion will not be undertaken! Moreover, the speeding-up of British tank production, improvement in designs, and the overhauling of tactics on the basis of lessons learnt iu Belgium and Franco have so revolutionised Britain’s mechanised army that the Germans would need to land a much stronger tank force than would have been sufficient a few months ago. The possibility of landing tanks b.y air is admitted, but these would be so light that they could eas.ly bc dealt with either by defending tanks or anti-tank guns. It is possible to land heavier tanks on beaches, but they would be open to a terrific attack. The only really effective method so far visualised is that of the Germans gaining possession of a port, from which they might attempt to deploy tanks in fan-wise thrusts, but this would be a long process, even if, at first it was successful. A port always is vulnerable to attack from the land, from tlfe sea and from the air.
