“C.T.” AS WAR LORD
WAITING IN NORWAY LONDON, Sept. I.—General von Falkenhorst, commander of the Nazi Troops invading Norway, was actually in Oslo for the fortnight before invasion disguised as a commercial traveller, reveals Londoner’s Diary in the Evening Standard. .The diarist says that the "commercial traveller” took up residence at the Hotel Bristol. “On the morning of April 9 there was commotion in Oslo following the news that German troops were already moving into the city. The lobby of the Bristol was filled with guests and staff hurrying in all directions'. Suddenly down the. staircase strode a stalwart figure in the field uniform of a German officer. “It was the commercial traveller, General von Falkenhorst, going out to take over his command.”
