THE RED CROSS
MONTHLY MEETING NO FURTHER APPEALS THIS YEAR At the monthly meeting of the Opotiki’ Rqd Cross Society, reports from the various sub-committees were read, showing steady progress. In view of the forthcoming appeal of the Patriotic. Society it was unanimously agreed by the committee that no further appeals for funds on behalf of the Red Cross Society in Opotiki would be made in the district this year. It was hoped that this would give the Patriotic Committee full scope' in their appeal, and individual members of the Red Cross Committee expressed the r willingness to help the Patriotic Committee in any way their services could be utilised.
In the report of the Entertainment Committee, Mrs. Quirk mentioned the receipt of the sum of 10s contributed by the Waioiahi ’Maoris. This was gratefully received and an expression of thanks was made to the Maoris in the Waiotahi district for the practical interest shown.
