KRUPPS BOMBED BRITISH AIR RAIDERS OIL PLANT STRUCK SHIPPING ATTACKED ' DAMAGE TO DOCKS (News by Cable.) BUGBY, Oct. 0. An Air Ministry communique states: “Last night British bombers attacked an oil plant at Gelsenkirchen, Krupps’ works at Essen, he goods yards at Ha»nm, Osnabruck and Cologne, and shipping at Botterdam. Aircraft of the 'Coastal Command attacked shipping and warehouses at Brest and a barge and motor transport concentrations at Gravelines. Boutine minelaying operations were carried out. Three British planes are missing.” The Boyal Air Force raiders last night arrived at Brest just as night was falling. Despite haze they were able to see the outlines of the docks. Their salvoes of heavy bombs smashed the quays and damaged the dry dock. One of the pilots reported that his bombs which struck the road by the side of one of the quays, caused a series of hea\ y ex plosions as if ammunition sheds had been hit. Another squadron left a crescent of fires at Gravclines after the visit, in which it interspersed heavy bombs , with large quantities of incendiary bombs.
