R.A.F. ACTIVITY SERIES OF BOMBINGS SHIPPING AND BARRACKS SUCCESSES CLAIMED (News by Cable.) LONDON, Oct. G. A communique issued yesterday from British general headquarters at Cairo says there is no change on all fronts. A Royal Air Force communique states that anti-aircraft guns at Malta broke up an Italian formation whereupon fighters shot down one machine and severely damaged 'ahother. The Royal Air Force bombed Fort Saleaya, 40 miles south of Galabat, and also hit buildings on the Agordat railway at Aisha. The South African Air Force hit - barracks at Mega. The British planes returned safely from all operations. . A naval communique says that a naval unit bombarded the naval and air base at Stampalia, in the Dodecanese, on the night of October 2-3. Shipping and Warehouses Earlier, the Royal Air Force had successfully attacked shipping and warehouses at Benghazi. Fires broke out on a large merchantman and also near the naval dockyard. Several hits were scored on small ships. In an attack on Tobruk harbour, bombs fell on small ships moored at the jetty. Military stores and concentrations at Bardia were raided and incendiary bombs dropped on the barracks. A communique issued in Rome states that the British bombed Bardia and Tobruk, causing" slight damage but no casualties. An aid raid on Derna resulted in three being killed and 38 wounded. A barge was sunk. The British carried out, an air raid in the vicinity of Galabat, one person being killed and four wounded. They also raided Macfa, Hinds, and Asmara. Slight damage was done but no casualties were caused. One British and one Italian plane were brought down.
