BISHOP’S EXAMPLE
WILL WORK IN FIELDS LONDON, Aug. I.—Setting what he hopes will serve as an example to his 2000 parishioners, 63-y ear-old Dr, E. S. Woods, Anglican Bishop of Lichfield, has offered his services to' help in the harvest at Shropshire. Dr. Woods, lean and wiry, standing 6ft., plans to live the life of an ordinary farm labourer and will turn out in the fields at dawn “by way of a wartime holiday.” “I shall work in breeches and stockings,” he said, “and do as all the other labourers do.”
“Will you,” asked the reporter,
“join them in a pint at the local pub after the day’s work is done?” “Why, yes', of course, I shall,” he laughed.
