PUBLICATION CURTAILED EFFECT OF TERRITORIAL TRAINING As a result of the compulsory training of Territorials, which menced this week, and the reduction in/ the staff of the Opotiki News, it has been found impossible to carry on the usual work at the “Opotiki News”, and during the the period of the Territorial training, the “Opotiki News” will be published bi-weekly instead of triweekly. Commencing next week the “.Opotiki News” will be published on Tuesdays and Fridays until it is possible to revert to tri-weekly in about three months’ time. It is regretted that this step has been found necessary. The new arrangement w.U not interfere with the jobprinting department which will be able to carry on as previously. Satisfactory arrangements have been made to have certain day meetings reported and there should be no alteration in the local news service. To make the position easier on the new publishing days, adyert.sers are asked to hand in their advertisements, whenever possible, early on the days preceding publication. The new hours of closing of the mails, means that papers have to be in the Post Office not later than 5 o’clock for sorting, and the “News” post lists have to receive earlier attention than previously.
