MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE WEEKLY MEETING The weekly meeting .of the management committee of the Opotiki Rugby Union was held in Mr. T. Hickey’s rooms on Monday night. Present: Messrs. T. Hickey (chairman), Ashdown, T. Black, D. Beattie, S. Sotheran, C. Newth- and E. Chote. The minutes of the previous meeting'were read and confirmed. Accounts were passed for payment. . . . The secretary was instructed to write to the Rotorua Rugby. Union congratulating the Rotorua junior representative team on its meritorious win over Opotiki on Saturday last when the visitors again secured the Shalfoon Shield.

The committee extended their appreciation to Messrs. Black and Marjoribanksi for arranging the Reps. v. Veterans match as a benefit.

It was decided to thank the Referees’ Association for their support during the season.

After paying all expenses, including the usual amount to the Rotorua team, the sum of approximately £l4 was cleared as a result of the senior match and dance in the evening. This sum is being devoted to special accident victims during the season. The Press was thanked for advertising the benefit match and dance free of charge'. The O.M.P. Club was granted permission to play the Nuhaka senior team on Saturday, October 5. A discussion took place in connection with the Hurinui Apanui Shield dispute, and it was decided to write to the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union asking that a special general meeting be held to finalise the allocation of the shield as the present position is considered unsatisfactory.
