WEDDING
FRANCIS SH ALFOON . - _ A picturesque wedding was solemnised at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. to-day when Mary 'Victoria, second daughter of 'Mr .and Mrs Anthony Sha I fool t, of Opotiki, was united m the holy bonds, of matrimony to Edward, eldest son of -Mr and Mrs Elias Francis, o f-Mt. Eden, Auckland. Rev. Father Brady 1 ofliciatocl and -• /Mrs Quirk presided at the organ, the service being choral. _ A guard of'honour whs formed ofgirls wearing 'the blue cloaks of the Children' of -Mary. Entering the church on the arm of her father who gave her away, the bride presented a charming figure in her frock of! magnolia satin cut on slim ' fitting' lines. The delicately gauged bodice 'Was; fin-; isiied with neb at the neck-line and a‘ row of covered buttons at the back. The long fitting sleeves ended .in points at the wrist. , The panelled skirt merged gracefully into a circular train, an exquisite veil/of billowy embroidered tulle, forming a second, train, was attached to a head-dress of orange blossoms. The lovely ; bouquet was of lilies. • Over her bridal gown, the bride wore the mantle oi the Children of Mary which, in accordance with traditional custom, was removed by her attendant and placed before the Altar of Our Lady. Miss Tamaenie Shalfoou, the bride’s sister, who acted as brTdesmaid. wore a lovely, frock of fuschia pink with square neck-line and rucked bodice with a row of tiny buttons down the hack. The full skirt fell in dainty, folds. She carried a dainty matching bouquet. Mr J. Francis, the bridegroom’s brother, was in attendance as best man. . ' ! !. After tlie ceremony, a reception was held at. the Wattle Tearooms where Mrs A. Shalloon, the bride’s mother, received the guests wearing a smart navy blue ensemble of embroidered georgette. She carried a. posy of daphne. The bridegroom’s mother,. Mrs I'.. Francis wore a smart ensemble of black and white and carried a posy of violets. The tallies were daintily arranged, the place of honour being held by the handsome wedding cake. Mr Joe Sayegli. of Auckland acted as,, chairman throughout, the reception. Later the happy couple left on an extensive honeymoon tour, Mrs_ Francis choosing a smart navy blue striped suit with matching accessories and silver fox furs, as her travelling outfit.
