Baby's knitted Petticoat with Bodice — It is commenced from the bottom, and made m two pieces, and has an oper-work pointed edge, with tuoks m a color. I have alwayj|io.und that they sell very well at bazaars. One pair of pins No. 8, £lb white German fingering, loz coral or blue, Cast on m the color, 112 stitches. 1 plain row, 1 purl row, 1 plain row. In white *knit 1, knit together, knit 8, wool forward, knit 1, wool forward, knit 8, slip 1, knit, pass the slip stitoh over, repeat, * purl -Jbaok. Kepeat these 2 rows 4 times. Then, m color, knit 2 plain rows, 1 purl, 1 plain. Continue the fancy pattern m white, and the pink tucks till there are 3 of the latter. Then knit m whftfe, m, the fancy stitoh till there are 10 of the open- work rows, decreasing by putting 2 plain stitchesin the fancy pattern were the 3 were ; then decrease here and there till the stitohes are reduced to 56. This completes the skirt part. Then rib the 56 stitohes. 4 plain, 4 purl, for 56 rows, for the body, cast off. Make another piece of knitting just the same, only adding a strap for; the shoulder at the beginning and end of the 56 stitohes, 12 stitches wide, and lor twenty rows. Cast off the middle stitches, sew up thhe sides, and join the ends of the straps on to the top of the other piece. Finish with a crochet edging for the neck and arms, run m a string.
