THE VIEW HILL FIRE.
The case of Laugesen v. Plaskett was concluded at the Supreme Court, Christchurch, on Thursday last, when the jury found as under : — (1) Was the property of the plantiff destroyed by the fire which was lit by the defendant on Sep. 9 ? Yes. (2) If so, was there negligence of the defeudant m lighting such, lire or m subsequent conduct? Yes. (3) Did such fire spread entirely owing to a gale of unprecedented severity and which amounted to a vis major, and wli.ch could not be reasonably anticipated? No. (-i) Was the loss the result of plan tiff's negligence? No (5) What was the value of ihe property destroyed? ,£516 19s lOd.
