POSITION STILL ACUTE, BUT MORE PROMISING.

ORGANISATION WELL IN HAND. MAORIS IN DESPERATE PLIGHT. FURTHER HOSPITAL ESTABLISHED. The position as viewed from the executive's standpoint, although acute, is somewhat brighter to-day, but in view of the seriousness of the eipdemic there must not be any slackening off of the energies to stamp out the disease. Satisfactory progress is being made' by the majority of the cases at the temporary hospital, So far the committee has been able to provide beds for all +he urgent cases. A very large number of the cases in Paeroa are being treated in their homes, and the reports of further cases to-day in the Borough are not so numerous as on previous days. However, no relaxation must, be made of ths efforts of the public generally in taking every possible precaution to stamp out the epidemic.

The nursing" volunteers are doing splendid work and' are carrying out the duties assigned to them with great willingness.
