MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

At the Magistrate's Court this morning judgment by default was given in the following undefended

cases: —

J. N. Reid v. John Kotara : Claim £2 2s, and costs ss; Johnson Bros. v. J. Burnell: Claim £2 8s 7d, costs 10s ; Peter Barakat v. John Kotara: This was a claim for the return of a bridle and saddle. After the evidence of plaintiff had been heard an order was made for return of the saddle and bridle within 24 hours, failing which judgment would be entered for £5 15s and £1 lOs for detention, and costs £1 8s 6d.

Le Manquaisi Lamb and Co. v. W. Singer : Judgment summons, £3, had been paid into court, and an order *was made for the payment of the balance, £3 16s 6d and costs forthwith, in default 4 days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as the debt is paid at the rate of 10s per week. Le Manquais Lamb and Co. v. Hone Ngatira ; This was a claim of £46 5s 9d, being the amount paid on a section that defendant did not own. Mr Porritf appeared for the plaintiffs and Mr Moresby for the defendant. He stated that as soon as he discovered that the wrong section,had been sold he decided to confess judgment for the amount. Judgment by consent was entered for the, amount of £46 5s 9d, and costs £1 lls 6d.

Hague-Smith, Ltd., v. Rolton, claim £1 19s sd. An order was made by consent for this, defendant to pay amount forthwith, in default 4& hours in Thames gaol, warrant to be suspended provided defendant pays £1 per month until full amount is paid. The first payment to be made on August 10.
