| BOUGHT BY A SOUTHLANDER.

Mr W. D.. Hunt, of the Bainfield Stud of Friesian cattle at Waikiwi, Invercargill has acquired anew champion dairy cow at a price which is an easy record for the Dominion. The cow in question (says the "Southland Times") was bred by Mr John Donald, of Wanganui, and completed her year's test under the Department of Agricultux'e's semi-official conditions of milk and butter-fat recording, on June 12, with a production of 24,-

1991b of milk and 39.781b of butterfat in the 365 days. The cow, whose name is Westmere Princess Pietertje, was giving four gallons of milk per day, testing 4.6 at the end of a most remarkable year's performance. She is due to calve on July 16, to one of the best bred bulls in New Zealand, bred from stock imported from America.
