SLUG PEST.

A REMEDY.

At this season of the year gardens generally suffer from the ravages of slugs and snails. The following recipe, which is said to be very effective, is given by Mr C. M. Storey, of Welling-ton-, in' the Manawatu Standard: "Lay a few ounces of Paris green (a cheap form of arsenic), mix a tablesploonful c£ it with a quart of pollard and: place the mixture in small heaps on tihe ground', covering each heap with a tin, supported on a stick so that it is perhaps Jin. above the ground. Be sure not to put too much of the Paris green, or it.will flavour the; pollard disagreeably, It should sftow the faintest tinge of green. The slugs may be picked up by the bucketful if this mixture is prbperly mixed as directed."
