WHAT THE BRIDGE COST

RATEPAYERS PAY HALF

The total cost of the bridge, including the approaches and the protecting dolphins, is £$403, this including the first year's interest on the loan and the procuration fees—a comparatively small amount. The original loan raised was and subsequently an additional ten per cent was obtained, a total of £2750. The Government subsidy on the work was and the amount contributed by the County Council To meet the interest and sinking fund on the loan oi £2750 a rate of five-sixteenths of a penny in the pound was struck on the property within the special rating district, but^ it will not be necessary to collect the whole of this rate. The amount to be' paid each year is .£135 18s, this including interest and sinking fund—and at the end of 36i years the whole loan will be wiped off. In the meantime the ccJst of re pairs and maintenance will be paid- by the local body.
