KARANGAHAKE RESULTS
The following are the results of the examination ot pupils of the Karangahake School of Mines': —;
Practical chejnistry •—(senior) E. D. White, 80 percent.; (junior) T. Hassett, 68 per cent. Theoretical chemistry— (junior) T. Hassett 70, J. Hassett 56, J. B. CJonway 57.
Practical assaying, dry *— (Senior) J. Hassett 11 per cent. ; (junior) L. Prendergast 66, T. Hassett 40, J. B. Comvay 31, H. Hyde 12; wet (senior) E. D. White 56.
Metallurgy of gold and silver—E. D White, 60 per cent.
Ventilation—F. Smale, 75 per cent. Land and mining surveying — F, Smale, 60 per cent.
Mathematics—-(Senior) F. Smale, 54 per cent. ; .(junior) M. Collins 94, C. Reinhardt 93, J. B. Conway Bi, F. R. Tennent-78, R. Scally 77, T- Hassett 69, L. Prendergast 66, T. Hassett 62.
Mathematics—(Practical) A. E. Ratliff 63 per cent., E. D. White 51, H. Hyde 42, T. Smith 30.

Eighteen students obtained first-class passes, seven second-class passes, four third-class passes, and five failed. F. Smale obtained the Government scholarship, having passed his final section in ventilation ana surveying. The Council's prize for dry assaying and mathematics was won by L. Prendergast, and the Council's prize for the student who has shown the greatest effort was won by E. D. White. A. special prize for electricity and mathematics, presented by Mr Cassells-Brown, was won by T. Hassett. :
