OPENING UP LAND.
ROAD TO MARATOTO.
At the meeting of the Ohmemuri County Council yesterday afternoon the following letter from Mr T. A. Moresby (solicitor) was read :—" lam instructed by Mr George Alley and Mr Samuel Craig to request your Council to take over a road to Maratoto which they are constructing. Mr George Alley has subdivided his freehold into six smaller
size farms to conform with the requirements of "The Land Settlement Finance Act, 1909," and has found it necessary to dedicate a road so as to give access to the different farms. It is proposed to spend in forming and metalling the road in the first instance. I under-
stand the County engineer has been over and approves of the route. . The road is required for the advancement of that district, and will, it is believed, become^^. the main road to Maratoto from Ohinemuri. If you consent to the dedication of the road, I will prepare and forward the necessary road agreement under the provisions of" The Land Act, 1908," for signature." Mr Franklin moved that the road be accepted, subject to the usual conditions. In reply to Mr Lloyd, the engineer said there was no doubt this would be the main road to Maratoto from the Paeroa end. Mr Moresby, who was present, said that one of the terms ot the formation of the syndicate was that would be spent on the road. The motion was carried.
