ROAD

In the House of Representatives last week Mr Poland, member for Ohinemuri, asked the Minister of Public Works whether[he would take immediate steps to have the deviation on the Wai-kaka-Waitakaruru Road surveyed and legalised at once, so that the work of formation may be proceeded with. In doing so he read the following wire, which he had received from Mr C. Bray,

County engineer :— " Plans and specifications for expenditure grant WaikakaWaitakaruru returned because deviation made by Government Inspector has not been surveyed and Jegalised, although the department have spent public

The Hon. Mr R. McKenzie (Minister for Public Works) replied, the District Engineer at Auckland has asked the District Surveyor to make the necessary survey for the Waikaka—Waitakaruru Road. It is understood that such sur-
