WAIH! BEACH.

We feel sure that residents of Paeroa will be pleased to know that the much

talked of \saihi Beach Road has been made and is just completed. Last week we had a visit from Mr J. W. Shaw, one of the pioneers of the district and for many years " mine host" of the Commercial Hotel. He drove in from the beach to Waihi over the new road, and describes it as being first-class. The distance to the beach from Waihi over

the old road was 17! miles, while the new road is a little over six miles, which means a saving of about eleven miles ; besides which, there is no water or tides to contend with. The new road o^iens on to the beach just at Mr Shaw's tarm. The beach is described as being one of the most beautiful of the many favourite beaches in the dominion, and

is a coming Sumner. The short road will be much appreciated by the thousands who make for the beach to spend a week end or to enjoy a holiday by the seaside. Picnic and camping parties can make arrangements with Mr Shaw to camp on his ground and also to paddock their horses.
