KAURI TIMBER.

THE WAITAWHETA BUSH. The following letter from the Kauri Timber Company came up for consideration at yesterday's meeting of the Ohinemnri County Council:—" In connection with the working of the timber from our Waitawheta forest, we propose using the Waihi Company's tramline from the bush to a certain point on the hill above the Owharoa Falls and near the quarry. From this point we intend laying a line down to the railway. It will be necessary for our tramline to cross over the Waitawheta Road, for which we now seek your permission. We enclose a sketch showing the approximate position of . the proposed . crossing, and Mr Franklin, who is familiar with the matter, will no doubt be able to explain any other details you may require. Of course we will be responsible for any damage which may be caused to any property, etc., in consequence of the tram crossing the road." The Council decided to grant the permission applied for.
