TENNIS AND CROQUET.

ANNUAL MEETING OF PAEROA

CLUB

Tho atnual general meeting of the Paeroa Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was held last evening in ihe AVharf Fticet Hnll. There was a good attendance of members, tho president, Mr |foresfcy, being in the chair. General satisfaction was expressed with the state of the balancesheet considering the new liability the club has incurred in tho erection Of a pavilion An apology was received from the secretary, Mr A. H. Wilson, for unavoidable absence. The Chairman moved that the club place on record its appreciation of Mr Wilson's efforts on behalf of the club during his long secretaryship, which extended over a period of about seven years. He said there was no doubt that they were losing the services of a gentleman who was an ideal secretary. It was duo to his untiring energy that tho club had at last a pavilion and a second croquet lawn. The chairman's motion was ' seconded by Mr Bush, and was carried unanimously. The following officers were elected : ! President, Mr T. A. Moresby (re- ' elected) ; hon. secretary, Mr C. i Meredith; treasurer, Mr H. Bush ; I committee, Messrs Quick, I'ule, Shaw, •an-l Snadden ; ladies' committee, i Mesdames Bruuslnll, Bush,, Edwards, Moresby, and tho Misses Shaw and I Goote. | It was decided to leave tho arrangement of a suitable date for the open- • ing day in the hands of tho committee. In the meantime one asphalt court — that adjoining the road—is open for P lay- ' . , - . The following prizes won during last season were presented by the president:—Ladies' singles (tennis), Miss Edwards; combined (tennis) Miss D. Kenny and Mr Moredith; rneu's singles (tennis), Mr Meredith ; ladies' pinglea (croquet), Mrs Bell; ladios' doubles (croquet), Mrs Bell and Miss Shaw.
