The death occurred at Feilding on Monday of Mr C. Bray, engineer to the Oroua County Council, at the ago of 68 yeai-3. Tho old gentleman, who had been engineer to the local body for the past 29 year?, rcas the father of Mr C. Bray, of Paeroa.

Protection ha? been consented to by the Mimstor, for a further periocl of six mouths, in favour of N. J. Eusden, for the Waihi Caledonian Special Claim; "Waihi Discovery Goldmining Company, for its claim out towards tho beach,- near the Waihi Beach Claim; Kobevt Burns, for Nos. 1 to 8 river claims, Ohinernuri Eiver; A. Hanna, for the Shorthand Flat Special Claim, Thames; West Tokatea Goldmining Company, for the New Tokatea Special Claim, Coromandel. •
