DEATH OF MR HOLLIS.

AN OLD THAMES RESIDENT

Our readers will regret to learn of tho death of Mr E. W. Hollis, clerk to the Thames Cornty Council, which occurred at his residence yesterday. The deceased gentleman, -who had been in delicate health for some time, recovered sufficiently some months back to enable him to T*esume his duties as clerk of the Thames County Council, but the improvement was only temporaly, and soon after the last meeting of tho Council he was again forced to relinquish his duties and take to bed. For a time he appeared to rally, but he subsequently grew weaker and weaker until he passed away as mentioned above. The deceased gentleman had many good qualitips; he was a brilliant reconteur and wielded a facile pen, while he took considerable interest in all matters pertaining to both general politics and local affairs that had reference to the progress of the district. His death will come as a shock to many and will be deeply regretted by all. Deceased was eighty years of age, and he had been clerk to the Thames County Council for thirty years.
