SHOOTS HIMSELF IN PARIS.
MENTAL STRAIN THE CAUSE.! (By Electric Telegraph.) . London, March 26. Sir J. W. Bidgway, in the Legislative Council in Ceylon, referred to the very grave charges against Sir Bector Mac Donald, and hoped that a, searching court martial would secure a complete and honourable acquittal. Sir.Hector came to England to consult his friends and superiors Yesterday's announcement' of the court martial created consternation in the Highlands, where it was the sole topic. Everybody hoped his repu- j tation would be retained untarnished. I There was a similar feeling in London. After his visit to England Sir Hector Mac Donald alighted on his return journey at Paris on the 20th, and put up at the Hotel Eegina. Yesterday afternoon Sir Hector Mac Donald was found lying on the •floor with his head resting against a. dressing-table with a bullet in his temple.
