Volunteer Notes.

(By Bifle.)

• By the new regulations just issued, a considerabls alteration has' been made in the parades necessary to be efficient and earn capitation during i the year, and the course is of a much moie practical nature than was previously, required. All corps are now requivod to attend our annual camp of instruction. For infantry corps, every officor and man is required to /V-'i" TU'imal course of musketry as laiddo^n by "Target Practice, 1903," and' to go into camp for six days in each year. Every member must bo present and sleep in camp at least four days out of'the-six, and during tho year each officer and man must 1 attend eighteen parades at which at least half of the strength of the corps | must be present, three of these i parades being afternoon parades. On at least four parades during the year, two-thirds of the corps must be present. Any oflicer or man failing to fulfil these conditions is returned as a " non-efficient" for the year, and thus loses a year's service, and also fails to. earn capitation for his corps. Attendance at an. Easter camp still counts as three parades. Daylight parades are to be held in the open and dovoted to practical field manoevres for infantry, fort manning for garrison artillery, practical work on the sea for submarine miners, and practical work on land for engineers.
